Job summary

Lake Washington School District is seeking a paraeducator to assist teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students with physical or behavioral needs. You will support students’ health care needs, and help develop daily living and behavioral skills while aiding staff with classroom prep and organization of equipment and supplies.

Job description

Description: 180 day working calendar
Hours Per Day: 6.0 hrs
Shift: 8:30a-3:00p. Shift subject to change.
Location: Peter Kirk Elementary (within the Lake Washington Learning Community)

Hourly Rate: $30.79/hour position (SC7ParaEd26-27.pdf ) Position is eligible for membership in the Teamsters Local Union No. 763 which is part of the Lake Washington School District Trades Bargaining Council No. 763 (TBC).

Job Summary: Assists teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile. Supports students' special health care needs and develops daily living and behavioral skills. Assists staff with classroom preparation and retrieval, use and storage of equipment and supplies. May supervise and assist students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained classroom, playgrounds, or getting on and off a bus.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Must be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher OR Completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours, OR Passed an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of 455 or higher, OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher.

Official documentation will be required upon hire.

Must pass criminal background check.
