Job summary

Lake Washington School District is seeking a paraprofessional to assist teachers and support students with diverse needs across classrooms and at bus stops. The position operates on a 180-day calendar with a daily workload of 2.5 hours, located at Audubon Elementary within the Lake Washington Learning Community.

The role requires a high school diploma plus an AA degree or two years of college, or alternative paraeducator credentials, and a background check.

Qualifications

• Must have an AA degree or higher OR two years of college credit (72 quarter hours).
• Must pass ParaPro or Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with the required score.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile.
• Support students' special health care needs and develop daily living and behavioral skills.
• Assist staff with classroom preparation and retrieval, use and storage of equipment and supplies.
• May supervise and assist students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained classroom, playgrounds, or getting on and off a bus.

$30.79/hour position (SC7ParaEd26-27.pdf) is eligible for membership in the Teamsters Local Union No. 763 which is part of the Lake Washington School District Trades Bargaining Council No. 763 (TBC)

Education And Experience Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must hold an associate degree (AA) or higher OR have completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours OR have passed an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of 455 or higher OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher. Official documentation will be required upon hire.
• Must pass criminal background check
