TYPE: These positions work Monday-Friday; 7 hours per day/184-day calendar year
COMPENSATION: Range 28; Schedule M; Step 1: $21.54 - Step 5: $26.15
TYPE OF RECRUITMENT: This is an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment to establish an eligibility list and fill a vacancy. The eligibility list will be used to fill vacancies that may occur during the life of the eligibility list. Per agreement with our classified bargaining unit laid-off CVUHSD classified employees have a preference for reemployment to any vacant position for which they are qualified and apply. In a promotional and open recruitment, the promotional list shall take precedence. If the promotional list contains fewer than three eligible and willing ranks, certification of additional ranks shall be made from the open list.
TESTING PROCEDURE: The examination process will consist of a written competency examination. Applicants will be notified of their application status via email
DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of an administrator and general direction of a classroom teacher and specialist, assist in the instructional support, behavioral support, personal care, and supervision of students with a wide range of disabilities. Provide intensive individualized services; participate in behavioral modification and management of students; assist students with and demonstrate proper physical care and hygienic needs; provide support with classroom organization, management, and safety.
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Passing the Paraeducator Competency Examination.
Experience: One (1) year of experience working with special needs students.
