Grand Forks Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator at Viking Elementary School to assist students with disabilities in various classroom settings under teacher supervision. The position supports individualized education plans and data-tracking of student progress.
Responsibilities include assisting with instruction, adaptations, bus loading/unloading, and collaboration with teachers to maintain safe, supportive learning environments. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
Qualifications: Ability to work with a variety of student behaviors and educational needs, primarily in the general education classroom. Ability to work as a team member, demonstrates human relations skills, and demonstrates effective communication skills.
Job Summary: Assist students with disabilities in a variety of school settings, including specialized classrooms, under the supervision of teachers/related services personnel. Disabilities include autism, emotional disturbance, physical impairments, intellectual disabilities, adult transition (18-21 years of age) and alternate settings.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.
Terms of Employment: Full-time or part-time, Nine (9) months, academic school year
Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the supervisor.
