Grand Forks Public Schools seeks an assistant to support students with disabilities in various school settings under teacher supervision.
The role involves helping implement IEPs, tracking progress, and assisting with accommodations in general and self-contained classrooms. A high school diploma is required, with training in de-escalation and behavior support advisable.
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
Ability to work with a variety of student behaviors and educational needs, primarily in the general education classroom. Ability to work as a team member, demonstrates human relations skills, and demonstrates effective communication skills.
Assist students with disabilities in a variety of school settings, including specialized classrooms, under the supervision of teachers/related services personnel. Disabilities include autism, emotional disturbance, physical impairments, intellectual disabilities, adult transition (18-21 years of age) and alternate settings.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.
Full-time or part-time, Nine (9) months, academic school year
Job performance will be evaluated by the supervisor.
