Grand Forks Public Schools is seeking a Substitute paraeducator to support students with disabilities in various school settings, under the supervision of teachers and related services staff. The role includes assisting with classroom activities, data collection, and transitions between general education and self-contained programs.
Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, the ability to work with diverse student needs, and strong teamwork and communication skills.
Education: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
Qualifications: Ability to work with a variety of student behaviors and educational needs, primarily in the general education classroom. Ability to work as a team member, demonstrates human relations skills, and demonstrates effective communication skills.
Job Goal: Assist students with disabilities in a variety of school settings, including specialized classrooms, under the supervision of teachers/related services personnel. Disabilities include autism, emotional disturbance, physical impairments, intellectual disabilities, adult transition (18-21 years of age) and alternate settings.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.
