Job summary

State of Hawaiʻi is seeking candidates for a Para Medical Assistant I at assigned facilities in Oahu and Kailua. The position requires rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support patient care and facility operations.

Responsibilities include personal care services, adjunctive procedures, and participation in therapeutic activities, with potential training opportunities; compliance with PREA and state requirements is essential.

Qualifications

• One year of work experience in health facilities such as hospitals, clinics, health centers and other medically oriented institutions where the primary or basic objective was to provide for the maximum physical, mental and/or emotional health of the patient and which duties involved: observation and reporting of symptoms and conditions and implementing care or treatment procedures.
• Knowledge of: General principles of personal hygiene and bodily care, and housekeeping.
• Ability to: Follow oral and written instructions precisely; get along well with others; demonstrate respect toward patients with a variety of disabilities; retain emotional stability under pressure; develop an appreciation of nursing and medical ethics.
• Substitution allowed as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides a variety of moderately difficult personal care services and procedures; implements assigned adjunctive services; participates in providing therapeutic services; may participate in a planned training program; and performs other related duties as assigned.
