Position Overview
The Operations Data Analyst II works on a hybrid schedule (on‑site and at home) and is responsible for using data mining, analytics, and reporting to support business decisions. The role is based within a 50‑mile radius of the Toledo, OH Medical Mutual office.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with departments such as appeals, correspondence, legal, disbursements, and sales to identify and resolve moderately complex to complex issues involving internal and external systems, claims, and HIPAA data.
- Execute complex data‑related analytical projects, drive business decisions and efficiencies, and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Assist with audits, attestations and RFPs as needed.
- Utilize data mining and analytical techniques to understand large data sets and provide clear, easy‑to‑understand summary documents and reports for division leadership.
- Gather data for regulatory agencies and core business reporting (HIPAA, NCQA, Sherlock).
- Create technical specifications, unit test plans, and data‑flow diagrams and follow quality assurance guidelines.
- Analyze trends, identify areas for improvement, and troubleshoot errors, proposing methods for resolution.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, applied mathematics, data analysis, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in data or statistical analysis or equivalent relevant experience.
- Health insurance or other financial services experience preferred.
- Intermediate programming skills in SQL and SAS.
- Visualization experience with PowerBI or Tableau and strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to translate business requests into clear, actionable results that are understandable by all levels of the organization, including executives.
- Strong presentation skills for diverse audiences.
