Job summary

Sempra Infrastructure is seeking a skilled field technician to operate and maintain compressor stations in the Ragley/Sulphur area. You will use SCADA and associated systems to monitor status, perform routine checks, and prepare thorough tickets for escalation when needed.

The role requires 1 year of related experience and 2–5 years in natural gas compression operations, with familiarity of SAP and Caterpillar drivers.

  • Assist with planned maintenance windows and post-start checks.
  • Respond to routine alarms and communicate conditions to senior staff.

Job description

Executes a wide range of routine operating tasks, applying established methods to keep equipment available and data accurate. Resolves common issues by selecting from known options and preparing thorough tickets for escalation when needed. Operates and maintains compressor stations. Ensures that all policies and procedures for safe operations are maintained and trains

personnel on all procedures. Takes responsibility for maintaining control systems and PLCs. (This role is located in Ragley)

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Starts, stops, and operates compressor units and auxiliary systems; adjusts within prescribed limits to maintain flow and pressure.
  • Performs routine checks on engines, compressors, separators, coolers, and dehydration equipment; documents results.
  • Replaces basic components (filters, gaskets) and replenishes fluids following standard procedures.
  • Uses supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems to verify operating status and enter notes as directed.
  • Collects gas samples or moisture readings when required and routes them or logs per procedure.
  • Responds to routine alarms by executing predefined steps and communicating conditions to senior personnel.
  • Assists with planned maintenance windows (equipment preparations, isolation support, post‑start checks).
  • Maintains tidy tool and parts areas; updates inventory counts for consumables used during routine tasks.

Participatesin thesafeinstallationofinstrumentationandelectricalcomponents, andtroubleshootsissueswithcontrolsystems,complexequipment,reciprocating compressors, gasstorageequipment,generators, and gaschromatographysystems.

Maintains,modifies, andtroubleshootsDistributedControl Systems (DCS) andProgrammableLogicControllers(PLC)tomaximizetheuseofcontroltechnologyandminimizeinstallationandoperatingcosts, and also maintains advanced monitoring devices.

Performspreventiveand general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and associated components and plansupcomingprojectsandtasks.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Typically requires 1 year of related experience.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in natural gas compression operations , along with experience using maintenance databases , SAP, and Caterpillar natural gas compressor drivers .

  • Compressor Station Operations - Manage and maintain compressor stations to enhance the reliability and efficiency of gas transmission. Key activities include monitoring performance, conducting routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Inspection Management - A critical process of quality control that involves measuring, examining, and reviewing materials against standard requirements to ensure materials or components conform to the standards and latest guidelines.
  • Maintenance Management - Management of activities such as repair work, servicing, replacing, inspecting and testing.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Management - The systematic approach to maintain health and safety at occupation and protect the environment.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Ensuring an organization's adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications relevant to its business processes.
  • Emergency Response Management - The coordination and management of resources and responsibilities pertaining to the mitigation of, preparedness for, response to, and recovery from an emergency.
  • Project/Program Management - The process of leading the work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time.
  • Documentation & Records Management - Creating, distributing, using, maintaining and disposition of recorded information maintained as evidence of business activities and transactions.
  • Root Cause Analysis - The process of discovering the root causes of problems in order to identify appropriate solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Abletoread P&ID and electrical diagrams, as well as other complex electrical drawings; interpreters the plant electrical diagramsAnd update selectrical drawings.
  • Abletorunconduit,pullwire,replacemotors, and maintain lighting systems and basicmotorcontrols.
  • Possessessubstantialknowledgeofmechanicalprinciplesanddemonstratesstrongtroubleshooting skills.
  • Able to read technical manuals , one‑line diagrams , piping alignment sheets , and related documents , and able to complete tasks and assignments in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
  • Ensuring the proper handling and disposal of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste .
  • Able to maintain detailed records to ensure compliance with all company policies and all applicable local , state , and federal regulations .
  • Possesses intermediate‑level proficiency in Microsoft applications , including Excel, Word, and Access, for tasks involving word processing , spreadsheet development , and information retrieval .

The estimated pay range for this job. Disclosing pay information promotes competitive and equitable pay.
The actual pay rate will depend on the person's qualifications and experience. $32.69 - $51.44 / hour
