Job summary

Sempra Infrastructure is seeking a Field O&M professional for Sulphur compressor station operations, including inspection, maintenance, and coordination of maintenance tasks. The role requires independence, after-hours work, and potential shift assignments in Ragley.

Qualifications

  • Education: high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2–5 years in Natural Gas Compression.
  • Knowledge: safety, regulatory, and environmental guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Start/stop and operate compressor units, maintain flow and pressure.
  • Perform routine engine/compressor checks and document results.
  • Replace basic components and replenish fluids per procedures.
  • Train and lead field O&M staff on policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with vendors/contractors for parts and scheduling repairs.
  • Assist with planned maintenance windows and post-start checks.
  • Maintain tidy tool/parts areas and update consumable counts.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Complete required paperwork and other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Primary Purpose

Executes a wide range of routine operating tasks, applying established methods to keep equipment available and data accurate. Resolves common issues by selecting from known options and preparing thorough tickets for escalation when needed.Operates and maintains compressor stations. Takes responsibility for inspection of pipelines, corrosion control, coordination of construction and/or maintenance, and project documentation. Ensures that all policies and procedures for safe operations are maintained and trains personnel on all procedures.

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and comp and maintenance tasks/projects related to Turbine gas compressors and related mechanical equipment for operations a gas compressor facility. This position requires the incumbent to work independently with minimal supervision, work other than normal work hours, respond to call-outs, and may be subject to shift assignments.

(This role is located in Ragley)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Starts, stops, and operates compressor units and auxiliary systems; adjusts within prescribed limits to maintain flow and pressure.
  • Performs routine checks on engines, compressors, separators, coolers, and dehydration equipment; documents results.
  • Replaces basic components (filters, gaskets) and replenishes fluids following standard procedures.
  • Train and lead other field O&M employees, both on technical and company administrative and operation policies and procedures.

Coordinates and communicates with vendors, contractors, encroachers, etc. to order materials or parts and scheduling work for repairs.

Assists with planned maintenance windows (equipment preparations, isolation support, post ‑ start checks).

  • Maintains tidy tool and parts areas; updates inventory counts for consumables used during routine tasks.

Performs preventative maintenance.

  • Troubleshoots mechanical problems.
  • Evaluates and optimizes mechanical efficiencies.
  • Completes required paperwork: reports, requisitions, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Typically requires 2 to 5 years of related experience in Natural Gas Compression.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Compressor Station Operations - Manage and maintain compressor stations to enhance the reliability and efficiency of gas transmission. Key activities include monitoring performance, conducting routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Inspection Management - A critical process of quality control that involves measuring, examining, and reviewing materials against standard requirements to ensure materials or components conform to the standards and latest guidelines.
  • Maintenance Management - Management of activities such as repair work, servicing, replacing, inspecting and testing.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Management - The systematic approach to maintain health and safety at occupation and protect the environment.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Ensuring an organization's adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications relevant to its business processes.
  • Emergency Response Management - The coordination and management of resources and responsibilities pertaining to the mitigation of, preparedness for, response to, and recovery from an emergency.
  • Project/Program Management - The process of leading the work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time.
  • Documentation & Records Management - Creating, distributing, using, maintaining and disposition of recorded information maintained as evidence of business activities and transactions.
  • Root Cause Analysis - The process of discovering the root causes of problems in order to identify appropriate solutions.

Possess substantial knowledge of mechanical principals.

Possess strong troubleshooting skills.

Ability to read technical manuals, one-line diagrams, piping alignment sheets, etc.

  • Ability to complete tasks and assignments in a safe and environmentally responsible manner including ensuring proper handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Possess intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel/Word/Access) specifically for the purposes of word processing, spreadsheet applications, and information retrieval.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records to ensure compliance with all Company policies as well as all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Possess strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with SAP and Solar Turbine compressors is highly desirable.
