Job summary

BiOrigin Specialty Products is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Manager for our Gouverneur, NY paper mill. You will lead a skilled maintenance team, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of paper machines and auxiliary equipment in a 24/7 environment.

You will drive RCFA initiatives, manage CMMS-driven plans, and partner across engineering and operations to optimize performance. The role reports to the Mill Manager and requires a strong background in mechanical maintenance, capital

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree inMechanical or industrial engineering preferred.
• 8–12+ years in maintenance/reliability/engineering in paper or heavy industrial manufacturing.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally in a unionized environment.
• Strong knowledge of paper machine systems and mechanical equipment.
• Experience with RC(M)CMMS?RCM/TPM reliability methodologies.
• Experience using CMMS for maintenance planning and work management.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting with root-cause focus.
• Excellent communication, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Lean/Green Belt is a plus.
• Ability to thrive in a 24/7 manufacturing setting.
• Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical maintenance and reliability activities for mill assets (paper machines, stock prep, finishing equipment).
• Develop and coach the mechanical maintenance team; ensure training and accountability.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of critical assets; lead RCFA and reliability initiatives.
• Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance in a 24/7 environment.
• Utilize CMMS to plan, schedule, prioritize, and track maintenance work.
• Manage budgets and capital projects for mechanical maintenance.
• Coordinate outages, shutdowns, and major maintenance events.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and other teams on process improvements.
• Oversee contractors and manage OEMs during outages and projects.
• Enforce safety programs and conduct incident investigations as needed.
