Job summary

Pratt Industries, Inc. is seeking a hands-on general operator for our Conyers, GA paper mill. You will monitor machines, perform basic repairs, and participate in multiple roles across the plant, ensuring safety and efficiency.

The role emphasizes independent problem-solving, teamwork, and willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift with overtime. A strong mechanical aptitude and ability to lift 50+ pounds are required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor machines, equipment, and processes.
• Housekeeping tasks including washing up and debris removal.
• Perform small repairs on paper mill equipment.
• Identify areas for process improvement.
• Conduct tests on raw materials or finished product.
• Conduct fast walking rounds of the work area.
• Install paper machine clothing.
• Cross-train in multiple jobs around the plant.

Job description

Candidates must:

• Be able to solve problems independently

• Be able to work 12 hour rotating shift roster (day and nights, including weekends and holidays)

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Monitor machines, equipment, and processes
• Housekeeping to include washing up, raking up paper, shoveling debris, etc
• Small repairs of paper mill equipment
• Identify areas for process improvement
• Perform test on either raw material or finished product
• Perform fast walking rounds of work area continuously
• Install paper machine clothing
• Train other employees as well as receive training in multiple jobs throughout the plant
