Billerud NA is seeking a Paper Machine Coordinating Manager for Quinnesec Mill. You will coordinate the Q41 machine dry end, rewinding and coating operations, leading crews and ensuring safety, quality and cost efficiency.

You will partner with maintenance for reliability, drive process improvements, and participate in hiring and certification to build a strong, safe production team.

Qualifications

Five years of experience in operations and/or technical responsibilities in pulp or paper manufacturing.
BS degree in science, engineering or technology is acceptable.
Ability to inspect on-site facilities and move equipment

Responsibilities

Coordinate and direct production activities for the Q41 paper machine dry end and related equipment.
Provide leadership to ensure employee safety and regulatory compliance.
Oversee safety, quality, cost and efficient operation of the paper machine.
Lead crews and Team Leaders; collaborate with maintenance for reliability.
Direct input to maintenance and resolve operational issues.
Drive continuous process improvements and participate in hiring and certification.

Summary Description: The Paper Machine Coordinating Manager coordinates and direct the production activities of the Q41 paper machine Wet End, Dry End, or Coating and Additives Area. Create consistency and advocacy across all crews while closing the gaps in the areas of safety, production, quality, direct material usages and indirect spending.

Key Accountabilities:

Coordinate and direct production activities of the dry end of Q41 paper machine, Q41 Rereeler, Q41 Supercalenders, and Q41 Production Winders
Provide leadership and support to ensure employee safety and compliance with environment regulations.
Responsible for safety, quality, cost and efficient operation of the Q41 Paper Machine.
Provide operational direction and leadership to the crews and the Team Leaders.
Provide input and direction to the maintenance team to ensure reliable operation.
Department resources and coordinator for resolving operational issues.
Conduct and direct efforts towards continuous process improvements (capital and operational).
Participate in the hiring, promotional and certification processes.
Provide leadership and support to promote reliable operation of paper complex production equipment
Ensure product quality and consistency through the use of systems including PVR.

Qualifications

Required Experience / Education / Abilities (must have):

Minimum Required Experience and Education:

Five years of experience in operations and / or technical responsibilities in pulp or paper manufacturing OR
Bachelor of Science degree in the field of science, engineering or technology
Ability to conduct on-site inspections of the facility and moving equipment
Ability to flex from normal weekday work schedule to cover outages or special projects

Strong communications, interpersonal and organizational skills
Experience with production of graphic paper and / or packaging papers
Supervisory Experience
Strong operational papermaking skills with technical background, and customer focus.
Ability to lead and work cooperatively and effectively with a team towards a common goal.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Experience with established systems (Microsoft, Proficy, Parcview, Optivision, SAP)
Ability to lead and advocating Change, Drive for Results, Communication, Managerial Courage, Building an Effective Team, and Managing through Systems.
Self-starter able to work effectively with minimal direct supervision.
Maintain knowledge of corporate, state, and federal safety rules and regulations
