Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Assistant Asset Manager to join our team in Toledo, OR. The role focuses on strategic and tactical leadership to meet safety, environmental, reliability, production, quality, and cost objectives within the Paper department.

You will drive productivity improvements through process and equipment optimization and skill development, aligning with the company's Principle Based Management and Guiding Principles.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in manufacturing, industrial, or military environment.
  • 1+ years leading continuous improvement initiatives or reliability strategies.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety and environmental excellence; identify risks and mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with operators, shift leaders, and asset managers to meet department objectives.
  • Lead initiatives to improve safety, quality and cost, delivering high-value improvements.
  • Support outage planning and execution of routine and annual machine outages.
  • Drive process and equipment changes to improve product quality and reduce variation.

Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is hiring an Assistant Asset Manager to join our team in Toledo, OR (Containerboard) supporting the Paper department. This position will provide strategic and tactical leadership to achieve key operating objectives in safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production, quality, and cost. The successful candidate will focus on safely improving productivity and reducing costs through process/equipment optimization and operator knowledge/skill improvement. Long‑term value is created through the application of the company's business philosophy of Principle Based Management and Georgia‑Pacific's Guiding Principles.

Responsibilities
  • Drive a culture of safety and environmental excellence through critical hazard identification, risk reduction, and risk mitigation
  • Collaborate directly with operators, shift leaders and asset managers to meet the business objectives of the department and influence continuous improvement
  • Lead teams in the identification, development, evaluation and implementation of safety, quality and/or cost reduction initiatives and projects that add the highest value to the operation to drive continuous improvement
  • Integral team member of outage planning and execution of routine and annual machine outages
  • Drive process & equipment modifications that result in improved product quality, reduced variation, and higher customer satisfaction
  • Assist in development and implementation of capital projects involving process improvements to document and optimize efforts
Qualifications
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment
  • One (1) or more years of experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and/or reliability strategies
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools in the following manner: Excel (sorting data, creating tables and creating graphs); Outlook (scheduling tasks, calendar invitations and general professional correspondence); and Word (document creation/editing)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering
  • Five (5) or more years of leadership or supervisory experience within a pulp and paper manufacturing operation
  • Experience with paper processes and equipment operation
  • Experience managing in a labor union environment
  • Experience with chemical process safety
  • Six Sigma training and certification
