Job summary

Met Council operates a pantry in Brooklyn, delivering emergency food packages and maintaining an organized space for clients and volunteers. The role focuses on delivering compassionate service, inventory control, and coordination with team members in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include ordering, packing, assisting clients, and guiding volunteers while adhering to Kashrut laws and local community needs.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in food pantry operations, social services, or related field.
  • Fluent in English (required); understanding of Yiddish or Hebrew (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Kashrut laws (required).
  • Occasional availability on weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a functional emergency food space.
  • Oversee ordering and packing of emergency food packages.
  • Assist clients with order placement and help navigate market inquiries.
  • Manage and maintain pantry inventory control.
  • Oversee pantry volunteers and provide supervision and guidance.
