Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g., climate science, ecology, plant physiology, forestry, geography).
  • Background in data-intensive processing and analysis using open-source code (e.g., Python, R).
  • Proficiency in code documentation and reproducibility; experience with GitHub, Jupyter Notebook, R Markdown.

Responsibilities

  • Run and test the ELM-FATES model against observational datasets from pantropical scales.
  • Apply ecological and plant physiology theory to explore mechanistic controls and trait variation.
  • Analyze complex NGEE-Tropics datasets (eddy covariance, forest census, remote sensing).
  • Investigate land–atmosphere feedbacks under varied climate/land-use scenarios.
  • Publish results in high-quality journals and contribute to proposals.
