Job summary

John H. Carter Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced technician skilled in industrial electrical panel building and fabrication in Louisiana.

Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial control panel construction preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

  • Experience in industrial electrical panel building/production/fabrication.
  • Complete point to point wiring and install a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical components (both repetitive and non-repetitive).
  • Work with schematics, wiring diagrams and bills of material.
  • Verify accuracy of design, manufacturing and as built documentation.
  • Experience wiring, constructing, and troubleshooting control panels.
  • Mounting and wiring of electrical components i.e. (photoelectric eyes, probes, solenoid valves).
  • Power/debug/re-wire electrical panel and machines.
  • Should be able read and work from standard NFPA 79 style electrical schematics.
  • Use of basic hand tools.
  • Some lifting, bending and long-term standing required (see Physical Requirements section).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Available to work overtime including some weekends as required.
  • Work collaboratively with development staff and support staff to maintain thorough knowledge of product capabilities, and to ensure that all communications between John H. Carter Co., Inc. and its stakeholders are precise.

  • Prevent bad work habits from developing. You are responsible to make daily observations of employees to ensure that they perform their work safely, and continue this observation regularly once safe working habits are established.
  • Take action to correct or control hazardous conditions within your work areas. If it is beyond your control, remove the employee until the condition is safe. Eliminate unsafe conditions and prevent an accident.
  • Set a good example. Demonstrate safety in your own work habits and personal conduct. Always wear personal protective equipment in areas where personal protective equipment is required.
  • Verify employees are trained on the proper safety procedures to follow, including the use of additional safeguards such as machine guards and personal protective equipment.
  • Make safety suggestions.
  • Take an active part and participate in safety meetings.
  • Report all accidents, incidents and near misses to management immediately.
  • Qualifications
Education

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • 2-year trade school or union program

Preferred:

  • 2-year trade school or equivalent union program
Experience

Required:

  • 2 years of related electrical and industrial instrumentation field experience
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and technical drawings
  • Troubleshoot issues with industrial control equipment

Preferred:

  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial control panel construction
