Job summary

Wheeler Industries Incorporated in a manufacturing setting seeks a skilled Control Panel Assembler. You will perform electrical and mechanical assembly, build and wire panels per schematics, and troubleshoot to ensure quality and compliance.

The role requires reading electrical diagrams and working with PLCs, relays, and VFDs. The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical and mechanical components for industrial control systems.
  • Build and wire control panels per schematics and company standards.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams and flag errors or improvements to design engineers.
  • Communicate schematic issues or required changes promptly to engineers.
  • Maintain organization and accountability for project materials (BOMs).
  • Track component usage and reorder parts as needed; alert when stock is low.
  • Inspect completed panels for accuracy, functionality, and compliance.
  • Assist with troubleshooting wiring and component failures during and after panel construction.
  • Collaborate with engineers to resolve technical challenges and improve designs.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.

Summary

Responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial control systems and control panels.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Control Panel Assembly & Wiring
  • Perform electrical and mechanical assembly tasks for industrial control systems.
  • Build and wire control panels in accordance with electrical schematics, drawings, and company standards.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams and identify potential errors, inconsistencies, or opportunities for layout improvements.
  • Communicate schematic issues or required changes to design engineers promptly.
Project Execution & Material Management
  • Maintain organization and accountability for all materials ordered for assigned projects.
  • Identify incomplete or inaccurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and notify the project engineer.
  • Track component usage and notify engineers when specific parts need to be ordered.
  • Alert management when stock components or general materials need replenishment.
  • Complete control panel builds in alignment with project timelines and quality expectations.
Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting
  • Inspect completed panels for accuracy, functionality, and compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Assist with troubleshooting wiring, component failures, or assembly issues during and after panel construction.
  • Collaborate with engineers to resolve technical challenges and implement design improvements.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, industry standards, and internal quality guidelines.
  • Participate in safety training and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with industrial electrical components such as PLCs, relays, VFDs, power supplies, and terminal blocks is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience using standard electrical tools, test equipment, and panel building tools.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or panel shop environment is a plus.
Additional Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials or equipment up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and work in various physical positions for extended periods during panel assembly.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing or shop environment with exposure to noise, tools, and machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with engineers, managers, and team members.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, tools, and technologies as needed.
