Job summary

The Nature Conservancy seeks a Maintenance Technician for Palmyra Preserve. The role oversees upkeep, construction, maintenance, and repairs of facilities and equipment, including a hybrid solar/diesel energy system. On-island work with on-site board and lodging and a 3-month seasonal term.

Requirements include a high school diploma and 4 years' hands-on experience with facility and equipment maintenance, plus ability to lift 50 pounds and use Excel for inventory. U.S.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 4 years' direct maintenance experience.
• Experience operating and repairing equipment (lawn mower, tractor, backhoe, etc.).
• Experience performing preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment and engines.
• Experience with water/waste or energy systems, preferably photovoltaic, battery storage, and diesel generators.
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel for reports and inventory.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and working in tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facilities and equipment.
• Maintain renewable energy microgrid (solar, battery, diesel).
• Track inventory of parts and materials using Excel.
• Perform daily cleaning and upkeep of facilities.
• Assist with construction and repairs as needed.
