Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Palliative Care Specialist at Liberty Hospital. The role focuses on coordinating an interdisciplinary approach to deliver palliative care services and facilitating clinical operations for the program.

Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4 pm onsite, with no weekends or holidays. Requires 3+ years of nursing experience and RN licensure; MSN in palliative care preferred, with CHPN certification encouraged for

Qualifications

• 3+ years of recent clinical nursing experience required.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state; BLS certification.
• Palliative care experience or certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team to complete palliative care consults.
• Provide symptom management and pain control guidance.
• Plan and coordinate education for patients, staff and community on end-of-life issues.
• Facilitate palliative care team development and mentoring.
• Support informed patient/family decision making.
• Assist budget review and optimal use of staff resources.
• Develop and maintain program policies and procedures.
• Engage in quality improvement to enhance care effectiveness.
