Job summary

Scarborough Health Network is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a busy 24-bed acute Medicine/Oncology unit focused on palliative care. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in a multidisciplinary, family-centered environment and contribute to specialized pain and symptom management and end-of-life care.

The role supports ongoing education and collaboration with RNs, RPNs and the broader team to deliver high-quality patient care in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in good standing.
• Current BCLS.
• 2 years of experience in Acute Medical Nursing or recent related clinical placement experience.
• Recent Palliative Care experience (within the last 3 years) or recent related clinical placement experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in pain and symptom management.
• Experience with management of central venous catheters and venous access devices or willingness to learn.
• Demonstrates initiative and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
• Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community.
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position.

Responsibilities
