Sentara is seeking a Physician to join our established Palliative Care team in Virginia Beach, VA. The role focuses on inpatient consultations and leading complex discussions with patients and families, within a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting.

The ideal candidate holds an MD or DO and is board certified or eligible in Hospice & Palliative Medicine, with strong symptom management expertise and a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

• Strong clinical expertise in symptom management and end-of-life care.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient palliative care consultations with focus on symptom management.

Position Highlights

• Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Call Schedule: Light call rotation (1 in 4 weeks) serving as backup support to nurse practitioners
• Work-Life Balance: No weekend rounds, allowing for true work-life separation
• Provide inpatient palliative care consultations with focus on advanced symptom management
• Lead complex medical decision‑making discussions with patients, families, and care teams
• Collaborate within a well‑established interdisciplinary team including experienced nurse practitioners and licensed clinical social workers
• Mentor and guide team members in delivering compassionate, evidence‑based care
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and program development
• Robust program including 34 APPs and 5 Physicians with the goal of increasing to 7 Physicians system wide

We provide market‑competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full‑time employment is $212,534.40 - $244,296.00 annually.

Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra‑shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Note: If an annual salary is posted, it is based on a full‑time colleague working 2,080 hours annually.
