Sentara Healthcare seeks a Physician to join its established Palliative Care team in Hampton/Williamsburg, VA. The role emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care within a collaborative environment, with a focus on advanced symptom management and meaningful clinical impact.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board certification in Hospice & Palliative Medicine or eligibility.
• Strong clinical expertise in symptom management and end-of-life care.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient palliative care consultations with focus on symptom management.
• Lead complex medical decision-making discussions with patients, families, and care teams.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurse practitioners and social workers.
• Mentor team members and participate in quality improvement and program development.
• Support a large program with multiple physicians and APPs.

We are currently seeking a Physician to join our established, award-winning Palliative Care team. Position Highlights

• Location: Hampton and Williamsburg, VA
• Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Call Schedule: Light call rotation (1 in 4 weeks) serving as backup support to nurse practitioners
• Work-Life Balance: No weekend rounds, allowing for true work-life separation
• Provide inpatient palliative care consultations with focus on advanced symptom management
• Lead complex medical decision-making discussions with patients, families, and care teams
• Collaborate within a well-established interdisciplinary team including experienced nurse practitioners and licensed clinical social workers
• Mentor and guide team members in delivering compassionate, evidence-based care
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and program development
• Robust program including 34 APPs and 5 Physicians with the goal of increasing to 7 Physicianssystem wide
