Job summary

The University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in Palliative Care within the Clinical Research Division and UW department.

The successful candidate will contribute to outstanding clinical care, teaching, and research in palliative care, with outpatient and/or inpatient responsibilities and a path toward externally funded research, depending on interests and institutional needs.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent), board certification (or be board eligible for current palliative care fellows) in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (or foreign equivalent), and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
• While individuals with primary training in internal medicine are preferred, applicants with other training may apply (e.g. family medicine, anesthesiology, rehabilitation, psychiatry, surgery, etc.).
• The ideal candidate will have a record of and primary interest in palliative care research, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, grants and/or clinical trial experience, as well as experience teaching palliative care learners.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to outpatient and inpatient palliative care service delivery according to the candidate's interests and institutional need.
• Engage in teaching fellows, provide informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to learners, providers and the medical community.
• Develop and participate in clinical research activities, including grants and/or clinical trials.
