Job summary

Intermountain Health LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, seeks a Staff Palliative Care Chaplain to provide compassionate spiritual and emotional support to patients with serious illnesses and their families. You will conduct spiritual assessments, assist in care planning, and coordinate resources within the palliative care IDT, including ICU rounds.

The role requires collaboration with ICU physicians, development of care plans, and documentation of assessments in the EMR, while addressing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (accredited).
• Completion of 2 units of Accredited Clinical Pastoral Education within 2 years of hire.
• Completion of 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education within 2 years of hire.
• Two or more years of health care chaplaincy experience, with at least one year in palliative care.
• Endorsement from ecclesial judicatory body current and received or reaffirmed within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients, families, and visitors with spiritual, psychological, social, emotional needs during illness and stress.
• Participate in IDT rounds, including ICU, and support care plans.
• Coordinate family meetings with ICU attending physicians.
• Review charts for advance directives and document patient wishes.
• Develop, implement, and document spiritual assessments and outcomes; document in EMR.
• Respond to crises and participate in ethics consultations and triage calls.
• Collaborate within Spiritual Care department; contribute to quality improvement and strategy.
• Lead committees or projects as assigned.
