Job summary

Tyson Foods in Newbern, TN is hiring for a production worker on 1st shift. The role involves setting up equipment and packing product into boxes, while adhering to safety, food safety policies, and company standards. You will inspect boxes for quality, move materials, and assist with box-making as needed.

The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds, working around machinery and chemicals, and enduring long periods on a concrete floor in cold conditions. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Responsibilities

• Set up equipment/work area in preparation for startup, and responsible for filling and making boxes, while also being able to adhere to good safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies.
• Responsible for picking up empty boxes from the conveyor line and quickly packing with product.
• Responsible for hand making boxes as needed for certain products.
• Responsible for checking product going into boxes to assure all quality characteristics are met.
• Responsible for making decisions and acting on material to be used.
• Monitor production area for trash and food debris on floor.
• Perform various other tasks as assigned by Lead Person, Supervisor or Superintendent.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Must clean up area at end of production shift, including but not limited to sweeping, picking up debris from the floor, and spraying work areas.
