Job summary

Aspen Environmental Group is seeking an experienced paleontologist to support our Cultural Resources Group, based in Agoura Hills, CA. The role will be on-call with potential to become permanent, with work primarily remote or in the field and requires eligibility as Field Director or Principal Paleontologist on our CA BLM Permit.

Qualified candidates will have 5–10+ years of paleontological experience, leadership in surveys and monitoring, strong technical writing, and proficiency with MS Word

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of professional paleontological experience.
• Demonstrated leadership of surveys, excavations, and monitoring programs.
• Authorship of technical reports.
• Prior experience supervising paleontological staff.
• Meets SVP standards for a Qualified Professional Paleontologist.
• Qualified to serve as Principal Investigator on federal projects, subject to BLM approval.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with exceptional attention to quality.
• Excellent technical writing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee paleontological monitoring and field surveys.
• Prepare technical reports supporting CEQA and NEPA compliance.
• Document fossil discoveries and implement mitigation measures.
• Coordinate with construction crews and project teams.
• Ensure high-quality standards for project deliverables.
