Job summary

Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company, is seeking a Painter/Sandblaster in Mayfield, KY for night shift (Mon-Thu, 8pm - 6am). Responsibilities include cleaning, sandblasting, prepping, and painting locomotives and components.

The role requires usage of paints, primers, and related equipment, with emphasis on safety and precision. Education in high school or GED is required, with preferred certification in industrial painting or auto body.

Qualifications

• High School Education or GED, prefer certification in industrial painting or auto body.
• Industrial paint or auto body collision experience preferred.
• Ability to read precision instruments, micrometers, and gauges accurately.
• Must use a full face respirator with filter or fresh air.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and paint locomotive and components.
• Wash and clean locomotive and locomotive components.
• Prep locomotive and components before painting.
• Paint and clear coat locomotives.
• Install decals.
• Work with little or no supervision consistently, accurately, and safely.
• Read precision instruments, micrometers, and gauges accurately, and safely.
• Keep work area clean and organized consistently and safely.
• Complete and document jobs per traveler requirements/QWI’s/work instructions consistently, accurately, and safely.
• Use equipment: electric and air operated hand tools, 5 gallon paint pots, Bobcat, forklifts and man lifts, industrial pressure washer, full face respirator with filter or fresh air.
