The Role

Painter Apprentices will complete a 6,000-hour program combining on-the-job training and classroom studies, exposing them to various skills aboard naval vessels. Responsibilities include blasting, spraying, brush painting, and other coating processes in the marine industry. Apprentices must operate various equipment and gauges related to blasting and spraying.

Must Have

  • Must be a current Ingalls Shipbuilding employee
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Provide original transcripts, driver's license or ID, social security card or proof of application, and birth certificate at the intake interview
  • DD214 if former military

Nice to Have

Certifications such as Tech Master, participation in Ingalls Shipbuilding Academy, Talent Development Lab, or Career Technical Education programs.
