Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a paint technician for a 2nd shift role in Wilson, NC. You will prepare parts, apply coatings with HVLP spray equipment, and ensure quality and safety standards are met throughout the painting process.

The position requires a HS diploma or GED with at least 1 year of relevant experience. Overtime may be required, and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) in the US with minimum 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces to be painted by cleaning, masking, and sanding.
  • Apply paint to surface of the part using HVLP spray gun.
  • Adjust spray gun to maximize transfer efficiency and teach others.
  • Clean and maintain spray equipment.
  • Ensure manometers, filters, ovens and all equipment meet specification requirements.
  • Read and follow procedures, routing and other work instructions.
  • Accurately complete required documentation.
  • Maintain quality product standards with no defects.
  • Meet customer deadlines.
  • Store, handle, use and dispose of hazardous chemicals per laws.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Comply with quality systems and RTX rules.
  • Participate in cost reduction and continuous improvement plans/events.
  • Participate in audits.
  • Acquire applicable skill/knowledge/certifications as required.
  • Maintain materials, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition.

This is a 2nd shift position with the following hours: Monday - Friday (3:30pm - 11:30pm) (Overtime may be required)

What You Will Do:
  • Prepare surfaces to be painted by cleaning, masking, and sanding.

  • Able to adjust paint gun to maximize transfer efficiency and teach others.
  • Able to clean and maintain spray equipment.
  • Ensures manometers, filters, ovens and all equipment meet specification requirements.
  • Understands spray patterns, angles and distance to part.
  • Understands racking and hanging techniques.
  • Learn to accurately read and follow procedures, routing and other work instructions.
  • Accurately completes required documentation.
  • Responsible for quality product standards with no defects.
  • Meet customer deadlines.
  • Store, handle, use and dispose of hazardous chemicals in accordance with federal, state laws.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Responsible to comply with applicable elements of quality systems.
  • Participate in cost reduction plans and continuous improvement plans/events, as required.
  • Participate in audits.
  • Acquire applicable skill/knowledge/certifications as required.
  • Maintain materials, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Comply with all rules and regulations of United Technologies, including, but not limited to: Environmental Health and Safety, Ethics, International Trade Compliance and Human Resources.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
