Gray Manufacturing Company is seeking a paint support worker for the 2nd shift (Mon-Thurs 4:30pm-3:00am). The role involves assisting the painter, preparing products, and moving items through the painting process to assembly lines.

Starting pay is $24.91/hr plus a $3.50/hr 2nd shift premium, totaling $28.41/hour. The job emphasizes safety, efficient workflow, and accurate documentation of work activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Auto body training or industrial paint experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and stand most of the shift.

Responsibilities

• Prepare product for painting through inspection, hanging and masking.
• Move painted product through bays and into assembly lines as needed.
• Maintain wash/RINSE/phosphatizing solution mix and test accordingly.
• Assist painter by maintaining paint tools, mixing paints to spec, cleaning equipment.
• Observe operations for defects and report discrepancies to supervisor.
• Perform entry level paint duties and back-up painter when required.
• Ensure equipment operation via routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Document time sheets and work orders for activities.
• Contribute to team with quality work and timely performance.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment per safety rules.

The current opening is for 2nd shift (Monday - Thursday 4:30pm-3:00am)

Job Purpose

Assists the Painter in a high volume, fast-paced wet coat paint system by providing a smooth flow of product through the painting process and into the appropriate assembly lines. Paints with a thorough understanding of the painting process and all related equipment.

Essential Job Duties

1. 1. Prepares the product to be painted by pre-paint inspection for cleanliness, hanging (if necessary), cleaning, and masking, to include some minor pre-paint assembly.
2. 2. Positions painted product into the proper bays by routing conveyor trolleys through the painting process and into the appropriate assembly lines, down stacking or off loading when necessary to free up trolleys.
3. 3. Maintains the proper washing/rinsing/phosphatizing solution mix in the parts washer by testing the solutions and adding appropriate ingredients to meet the requirements.
4. 4. Assists the painter by helping maintaining all paint related equipment, mixing paints to specifications, cleaning/flushing paint equipment and reclaiming used solvents.
5. 5. Maintains Engineering specifications by observing operations, detecting malfunctions and inspecting processed parts. Report all product deficiencies to the supervisor immediately.
6. 6. Performs entry level paint duties and serves as a back-up painter.
7. 7. Ensures operation of equipment by performing routine maintenance; following machine manufacturers’ instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions and reporting all discrepancies and malfunctions to the supervisor immediately.
8. 8. Documents work activities by using time sheets and work orders.
9. 9. Contributes to a team effort by striving for high quality of work and accomplishing results as needed. Performs work in a timely manner and to the best of his/her ability.
10. 10. Maintains a safe and clean working environment for themselves and others by complying with safety procedures, rules and regulations including use of personal protective equipment.

Occasional Job Duties

Serves in other job capacities; assembly, labor pool or where qualified on a short term basis.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Auto body training or industrial paint experience preferred
• Lifting, twisting, reaching, carrying and bending
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to safely stand for 95% of the working shift.
