Responsibilities

The primary goal is to meet customer requirements for quality, quantity, and delivery safely while maximizing productivity. The Painter I is responsible for supporting production activities, primarily in the paintroom, including setup, cleanup, and quality finishing. The role may also involve prepping or supporting other plant areas, with visual inspection of parts.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Preparing, cleaning, grinding, sanding, and filling steel products
• Mixing, matching, and applying paint, completing touchups, and managing large painting projects
• Moving parts through the process
• Maintaining paint and coating supplies

• Adjusting spray valves and nozzles for desired finishes
• Repainting and touchups as needed
• Following all safety guidelines and maintaining a clean work environment
• Using PPE properly
• Maintaining reliable attendance and transportation

• Performing other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Prior manufacturing experience is highly preferred. Relevant technical or vocational training is also desirable.

• Ability to read blueprints is a plus
• Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred (training available)

• Ability to pass background check and drug test
• Team player with a high sense of urgency
• Detail-oriented, attentive to quality issues
• Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting

• Repetitive lifting of 25-50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work overtime, including weekends and holidays

Work Environment

• Work in a typical manufacturing setting with overhead cranes and forklifts
• Bright workspace with overhead LED lighting
• Clean environment with some grinding dust, heat/cold, fumes, and vibration
• Noise level typical of manufacturing processes; annual audiometric testing provided
• Non-climate-controlled facility, with fans in summer and heating in winter

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent; large equipment painting experience is a plus. Entry-level candidates with training may be considered.
