GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

To operate a spray painter, apply industrial paint finishes to parts, sub-assemblies, partial or completed shelters, and trailers to achieve the quality and integrity of products at the lowest possible cost.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Receive instructions verbally or from detailed prints.
2. Receive parts, sub-assemblies, and units at the work station.
3. Prepare units for painting, including washing, masking, sanding, and cleaning.
4. Check units, parts, and assemblies for proper preparation before painting.
5. Handle materials, move units in and out of spray booths, and place parts on racks for painting and drying.
6. Select and mix paint to desired consistency, including J7 body filler and hardener.
7. Check the shelf life of paint before use.
8. Clean spray room and equipment, including spray guns, pumps, and tanks.
9. Perform operations such as hand buffing, applying spot primer, and sealing.
10. Perform spray operations, applying primer and finish coats as required.
11. Apply paint with precision to meet quality standards, avoiding runs and ensuring compliance with government standards.
12. Use various tools and equipment, including brushes, spray guns, and power sanders.
13. Practice safety procedures, especially when using ladders and respiration devices.
14. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
