Job Summary
To operate a spray painter, applying industrial paint finishes to parts, sub-assemblies, shelters, and trailers to ensure product quality and integrity at minimal cost.
Essential Job Functions
- Receive instructions verbally or from detailed prints.
- Handle parts, sub-assemblies, and units at the work station.
- Prepare units for painting, including washing, masking, sanding, and cleaning.
- Check units for proper preparation before painting.
- Handle materials, move units, and place parts on racks for painting and drying.
- Select and mix paint and other materials like J7 body filler and hardener.
- Ensure paint shelf life is valid before use.
- Clean spray equipment and perform operational maintenance.
- Perform additional tasks such as buffing, priming, and applying finishes.
- Apply paint using spray guns, ensuring proper thickness and quality standards.
- Conduct tests to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Use various tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-year related experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work safely with hazardous materials.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under supervision.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Shop floor environment with exposure to noise and chemicals.
- Repetitive motions and physical activity including lifting.
- Adherence to safety protocols with PPE.
