Job summary

Dover Food Retail in Colonial Heights, VA is seeking a Painter I to join the onsite Paint Department. The role focuses on powder paint coating, touching up parts, ensuring paint availability at the workstation, and testing equipment prior to entry to the paint booth.

The position requires high school diploma, Hill PHOENIX certification, and prior painting or powder coating experience is preferred. Weight will be given to knowledge of manufacturing processes and strong communication skills.

Location: Colonial Heights, VA, 23834

Work Arrangement: Onsite

What we are looking for:

We are searching for a Painter who will be primarily responsible for painting parts in the Paint Department. The successful candidate will touch up parts as needed to meet quality standards, ensure sufficient paint is available at the workstation, test and adjust equipment prior to parts arriving at the paint booth, and perform other duties as directed by supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Apply powder paint coating using manual paint guns while remaining in compliance with all operational and quality standards.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Test and adjust equipment before parts arrive at the paint booth.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the powder booth, spray parts, and washer system as required.
  • Use a paint gun to paint or powder coat refrigerated display case parts on a suspended conveyor.
  • Adjust line speed to correspond with parts being painted.
  • Perform color changes following established procedures and time limits.
  • Inspect completed parts exiting the paint booth for defects and notify lead/supervisor as required.
  • Use a tape measure, reading to the nearest 1/16".
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Effectively interact and communicate with paint line team leaders and members.
  • Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed by supervision.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Pass Hill PHOENIX certification training.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing painting position or powder coating experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • May be required to perform tasks involving standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, or kneeling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., with or without mechanical aids.
  • Work is performed in a production environment that may involve temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise, and dust.
