Primary Purpose

To maintain the physical plant in a condition of operating excellence by maintaining all finished surfaces. To supervise and direct paint personnel and work schedules. To train new personnel on district policies and maintain logs and records of department needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Current valid Texas driver’s license.
• Must have a clear and acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.
• Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language.

Salary/Pay Grade

$27.35/HS-11

Salary based on verifiable job-related experience, as set by the Board of Trustees.

Essential Functions

• Responsibilities of Painter I, II, III, and Leadman.
• Supervise department employees, assign work, and schedule building repairs.
• Make recommendations concerning hiring, discipline, and advancement.
• Make decisions or corrections in the field as needed.
• Monitor department purchases.
• Review specifications for new construction and remodeled facilities.
• Determine material and supplies needed daily.
• Complete paperwork for processing when the supervisor is out.
• Communicate with employees and district personnel.
• Monitor job site safety conditions.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

• Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Work from various heights.
• Stand, climb, squat, bend, stoop, crawl, and kneel for extended periods.
• Work late afternoons and weekends.
• Be available for different schedules or shifts.
• Respond to after-hour demands, subject to 24-hour responsibility.
• Maintain emotional control under stress.
• Work independently or with others.
• Keep information confidential.
