Job summary

2 O.C. Tanner Manufacturing in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a Painter / Finisher to prepare surfaces, apply paints and finishes, and restore exterior and interior structures. You will handle caulking, wood staining, and texture work, using airless spray equipment and ladders as needed.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 6 months of related experience. Safety awareness and the ability to estimate material quantities are important, along with teamwork in our facilities

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Applies paints, sealers, and solvents to interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Performs caulking, finish repair, mud and tape, and texturing tasks.
  • Operates airless spray equipment, scaffolding, and lifts.
  • Removes and renews finishes on exterior surfaces with appropriate coatings.
  • Carves out wood staining and sealing refinishing tasks.
  • Maintains equipment and promotes safety practices.

Job description

Painter / Finisher Summary

Performs routine to moderately complex surface preparation, painting, and finishing tasks, applying a variety of methods, media, and techniques to both interior and exterior surfaces.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Applies paints, sealers, and solvents to exterior and interior building surfaces such as plaster, sheetrock, concrete, and wood.
  • Performs building exterior and interior caulking, finish repair, mud and tape, and texturing tasks.
  • Operates equipment such as airless spray equipment, scaffolding, and motorized lifts.
  • Uses mechanized high-reach equipment to renew finishes on exterior building surfaces.
  • Performs special refinishing tasks including wood surface preparation, staining, and sealing.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Performs drywall repair, blending newly renovated wall surfaces with existing finished walls.
  • Communicates painting projects to provide estimated times and material quantities required; selects appropriate surface coatings.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties assigned that will assist other functions of Facilities Maintenance.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED: at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Skill in selecting and applying paint and associated products.
  • Skill in applying coatings and/or caulking and completing repairs to exterior and interior surfaces.
  • Skill in wood surface preparation, staining, and/or sealing techniques.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to select, mix, and apply surface coatings which successfully match and/or restore interior or exterior surfaces.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to estimate basic project times and material quantity requirements.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, and/or loud noises. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of climbing and working from ladders up to 36 feet.
