Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Marietta, GA is seeking an Aircraft Painter to apply primer, finish, and protective coatings to aircraft parts and subassemblies. You will select paints, coats, and areas from work orders and drawings and operate spray painting equipment.

You will prepare surfaces, mask appropriate areas, adjust equipment for spray pattern and density, and ensure quality finishes on interior and exterior components, contributing to mission-ready aircraft.

Qualifications

  • One year of production spray painting experience.
  • One year’s experience in the application of decals and spraying stencils, or other equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and process specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Mixing paints to specified proportions and to obtain proper consistency for application
  • Performing incidental preparatory duties such as cleaning and preparing surfaces for painting and masking to skin breaks or other physical references
  • Laying out for, masking, and spraying all types of primer, finish, and protective coatings on surfaces of detail parts and of sub-assemblies
  • Making operating adjustments to painting equipment to control spray pattern, density, and splatter as required
  • Spray painting crew, equipment, passenger, stowage, and wheel-well compartments, and other interior surfaces of unstuffed major aircraft assemblies

Standard Job Description

You will be the Aircraft Painter for the team which is responsible for setting up various types of spray painting equipment and applying primer, finish, and protective paint and paint-like coatings to parts and subassemblies.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Aircraft Painter, you will be responsible for obtaining paint types, colors, number of coats, and areas to be painted from work orders, engineering drawings, and process specifications.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Mixing paints to specified proportions and to obtain proper consistency for application
  • Performing incidental preparatory duties such as cleaning and preparing surfaces for painting and masking to skin breaks or other physical references

Who You Are

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled and experienced painter with a strong knowledge of spray painting techniques and equipment. You will have excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and process specifications, and the ability to work with decimals, fractions, and proportions.

Basic Qualifications
  • One year of production spray painting experience, either aircraft or auto body. (ability to operate spray painting equipment and use acceptable spray painting techniques).
  • One year’s experience in the application of decals and spraying stencils, or other equivalent experience.

Pay Information
  • $22.08 - $47.70
