Salary Range: $38,000 annualized.

Job Summary
The Painter provides journeyman level skills to performpainting. This role is responsible for preparing and finishing awide range of surfaces using various painting techniques tomaintain and enhance the appearance and durability or campusfacilities, equipment, and furnishings.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepares surfaces for painting, and applying paints tomachinery, equipment, furniture, and interiors and/or buildings byspray gun or brush.
- Provides painter skills to include erecting or riggingscaffolds; scrapes, sandpapers, primes, or seals surfaces prior topainting; mixes, matches, and applies paint, varnishes, shellacs,enamels, and other finishes; and covers surfaces and furniture toprotect against paint.
- Checks condition of woodwork; removes spattered paint upon jobcompletion; and cleans and cares for brushes, spray guns, and otherequipment.
- Reports needs for carpentry repairs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalentexperience in a related field.
- Three (3) years of related work experience.
- This position may require the ability to maintain the securityand integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per TexasEO-GA-48.

Working Conditions
- Indoor and Outdoor Environments. Exposure to mechanical andelectrical hazards, hazardous chemicals, high pressure water andair systems, high speed equipment, confined spaces, and heights.Exposure to variable Texas weather conditions and/or Indoor andOutdoor Environments. Exposure to mechanical and electricalhazards, hazardous chemicals, high pressure water and air systems,high speed equipment, confined spaces, and heights. Exposure tovariable Texas weather conditions and/or physical hazards such asworking in elevate and confined spaces; working in attics,sub-floors, machine rooms, on roofs, and other operational areas.Exposure may be prolonged. Exposure to various mechanical,electrical, laboratories, and other university spaces. Exposure tovariety of construction and physical plant hazards including mediumvoltages (15KV), confined space, elevated heights, dust &dampness, high noise levels, outside weather, and energizedequipment & systems. Exposure to potential occupational hazardsincluding toxic, biological, and chemical hazards within certainlaboratory spaces. Exposure to elevated levels of noise. Requiredto wear Personal Protective Equipment when needed, including steeltoe or non-slip shoes, eye protection, hard hat, back belt, bodyharness, biological protective gear, ear muffs or plugs,respirator, and arc flash protection. Must wear and properlymaintain uniforms. Required to be on stand-by call status, carryinga pager, cell phone, or two-way radio as assigned, and respond toafter-hours emergency calls. Required to be on stand-by call statusfor overtime, evenings, after hours, odd hours, shift work,weekends, and/or holidays as needed. Flexibility in scheduling maybe required.
Physical Demands
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally,and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 poundsof force constantly to move objects. Regularly required to stand,walk, use hands to feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk orhear. Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch,crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel,and/or use repetitive motions. Ability to climb ladders andstairways and work on building rooftops of high elevation. Abilityto work in confined spaces such as ceiling, under floorcrawlspaces, and manholes. Repetitive motions that may include thewrists, hands, and/or fingers. Reaching overhead, at or belowshoulder level. Operating machinery and/or power tools. Required tohave visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operatingmachines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills wherethe seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performing mechanicalor skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones bycarpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters,mechanics, etc.
This position will work primarily on campus.Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
