This is skilled work in the painting of buildings, fixtures, and equipment. Work involves preparation of various types of surfaces for painting and applying paint by use of spray guns and/or brushes. Work is performed under general supervision of the Paint Foreperson. The employee in this class supervises the work of Painters I in absence of the Foreperson. Work requires working on ladders and scaffolds, as well as bending and kneeling.
Moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over fifty pounds.
Three to five years experience as a skilled painter.
Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools, equipment, and materials of the painting trade. Considerable knowledge of the proper preparation of surfaces to be painted, and of proper methods of mixing and matching all types of paints. Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the painting trade.
Graduation from high school or vocational school.
