Job description

About The Role

In your role as a Painter & Decorator at HC-One, you will undertake painting and decorating duties to present the homes to the highest standards, helping HC-One become the First Choice Care Home in the community. You will maintain a clean, safe, and homely environment to meet the needs of Residents and Colleagues. You must be responsive and flexible as the needs of the Homes change.
You will report immediately to the Home Manager or Person in Charge any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Resident, Colleague, yourself, or another. You must understand and ensure the implementation of the Care Home’s Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
This full-time position will cover multiple care homes, so you must be able to drive; a shared company vehicle will be provided.
HC-One is looking for someone with effective engagement and communication skills with Residents, the Home Manager, and other colleagues. You will undertake general painting and decorating in all parts of the Care Home as required, including making good any damage prior to decoration, wallpapering, painting walls, ceilings, and fixtures and fittings. You will understand and ensure the implementation of the care home’s health and safety policy and emergency and fire procedures, promoting safe working practices and ensuring all equipment used is clean and well maintained. You will also complete mandatory and specialist training related to your role, on or off-site, as required to maintain and update professional knowledge and competence.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. It is important that you can recognize signs indicating possible abuse, harm, or neglect in its different forms and know what to do if there are concerns. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and undertake additional training as needed. You should be able to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, including escalation if necessary.

We’ll provide full training, offering a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you will enjoy access to a wide range of benefits supporting your physical and psychological well-being. Throughout your career as a Painter & Decorator, we will invest in you, providing additional support and benefits including:

  • Hourly rate subject to experience and qualifications
  • Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
  • Free uniform
  • Nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
  • Company pension scheme
  • 28 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
  • Group life assurance cover
  • Wagestream - financial wellbeing and flexible access to pay as needed
  • Award-winning learning and development opportunities and support to achieve qualifications
  • GP online - 24/7 GP consultation via an app, available to you and your children under 16
  • An opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues as part of an outstanding team
  • Colleague discounts - access to over 1600 high street discounts
  • Wellbeing support through an independent Employee Assistance Programme, available 24/7
  • Recognition schemes such as ‘Kindness in Care’ and Long Service Awards
  • Refer a friend scheme offering up to £1000 per referral, depending on the role
