Job summary

Terex is seeking a skilled painter to operate and maintain paint equipment, prepare surfaces for epoxy primer, and manage multi-color truck finishes. You will mix paints using the in-house system, remember numerous paint and reducer codes, and spray a variety of coatings while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Ability to operate a paint gun and manage its maintenance.
  • Ability to identify and fix gun-related issues.
  • Ability to follow proper sequential steps in tasks.
  • Prepare surfaces for epoxy prime coat.
  • Proficient with in-house paint mixing system.
  • Remember and apply paint and reducer numbers for various formulas.

Responsibilities

  • Operate paint equipment and ensure proper gun function.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot paint gun and related tools.
  • Plan and execute painting steps in correct sequence.
  • Prepare surfaces for epoxy priming and primer coat.
  • Use the in-house mixing system to prepare paints.
  • Recall paint numbers, reducers, and mixing ratios for diverse products.
  • Mix and spray multiple paint types with accuracy and consistency.
  • Anticipate needs for multicolor truck finishes.
  • Identify and correct paint-compatibility issues and reactions.
  • Move around shop as needed to meet deadlines and ensure safety.

Job description

What you'll do
  • Ability to handle a paint gun.
  • Ability to spot if gun is not working properly and do the maintenance if needed.
  • Ability to organize and perform the steps needed in sequence.
  • Ability to prep bodies for epoxy prime coat.
  • Ability to use in house mixing system.
  • Ability to remember all paint numbers and reducer numbers as well as how to mix all types, brands, and the amounts needed.
  • Ability to mix and spray all types of paints such as metallic, acrylic enamels, primers, polyurethanes, spatter paints, molycote, and under coating.
  • Ability to plan ahead for multicolored trucks.
  • Must know how to spot and correct all types of related problems such as paint reaction to each other.
  • Must be able to move to any area of the shop; to be creative and meet strict deadlines as well as endure long hours.
  • Comply with Terex safety and quality standards through error prevention and by meeting such requirements with zero defects.
What you'll bring
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs and 40-100 lbs with assistance of others or lifting equipment provided.
  • A painter is usually assigned to one area but must possess the ability to perform in several areas and will be assigned to several if required.
  • A finish painter must be able to finish paint to exacting mill coverage of primer and paint.
  • Work involves decisions using ingenuity, initiative, and sound judgment.
  • Exposure to all kinds of weather.
  • Atmospheric exposure fumes and heat.
  • Certain personal protective equipment is required.
  • Compliance with all applicable occupational health and safety required.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $23.00-$26.00 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This above description is non-exhaustive and there may be additional duties in accordance with the role.
