Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a paints parts technician to perform painting of compressors, packages, and assemblies, including priming and finishing coats, washing and prepping surfaces.

You will inspect finished work, apply decals, handle materials, keep time and quality records, and follow 5S and safety policies. The role is hourly with competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Paint parts or assemblies including compressors and packages.
• Wash, clean, wire brush or scrape parts and apply primer/finish coats.
• Inspect painted items and correct deficiencies; apply decals and tags.
• Shrink wrap packages for transport or storage.
• Perform material handling and keep records of time and quality.
• Use chisel, hammer, air grinder, wire brush and related tools.
• Assemble caps, plugs and valves for finished charge.
• Detect unusual conditions or defective material and report to supervision.
• Maintain clean, safe work area following 5S standards.
• Participate in Kaizen, 5S and problem-solving activities as needed.
• Follow all safety policies and JHRA rules.

1. Perform a variety of painting of parts or assemblies such as, but not limited to compressors, packages, assemblies, parts or any other items that require their surfaces to be coated.
2. Wash, clean and wire brush or scrape parts as necessary, prime and finish coat using ready mix or activator type paints. Included will be to assemble individual parts or items on packages as required. Prime and finish coat using ready mix or activator type paints.
3. Inspect all packages or items that are painted and correct any deficiencies that are identified. Apply specified decals and tags. Shrink wrap packages or any other items for transport or storage.
4. Perform necessary material handling associated with the job.
5. Maintain necessary time, quality, quantity and other records.
6. Use chisel, hammer, air grinder, wire brush and other appropriate tooling.
7. Assemble caps, plugs and valves for finished charge.
8. Detect unusual conditions or defective material and report to proper supervision.
9. Maintain clean, safe work area and equipment according to 5S standards.
10. May be called upon to participate within special work teams performing various team related duties. Including Kaizen events, 5S programs and problem solving exercises.
11. Follow all safety policies, procedures and JHRA’s.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $29.08 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
