Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an Inspector in Waynesboro, VA to operate inspection measurement tooling and perform in-process and final inspections on components and assemblies. You will determine conformance to drawings and engineering specs, document results, and maintain a clean, safe work area in line with 5S standards.

The role emphasizes hands-on inspection, adherence to quality procedures, and collaboration with production teams to ensure timely, compliant delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Operate inspection measurement tooling.
  • Perform in-process and final inspection including mechanical, electrical, performance, leak testing and appearance.
  • Determine conformance to drawings, PO and engineering specs as applicable.
  • Complete rejected material reports and inspection tags.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and equipment per 5S standards.
  • Maintain time, quality, quantity, and other records.
  • Participate in special work teams, Kaizen events, 5S programs and problem solving.
  • Follow safety policies and JHRA’s.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  1. Operate inspection measurement tooling.
  2. Perform in-process and/or final inspection including mechanical, electrical, performance, leak testing and appearance of the following categories; A. Component machining, forming or welding B. Compressors, air units, vessels, valves C. Electrical assemblies and components D. Any complex mechanical and electrical assembly of discrete smaller assemblies and components
  3. Ensures that individuals responsible for non-conformities are constructively educated as to the nature of the non-conformity and the correction required for acceptance.
  4. Responsibility for completion of appropriate inspection records.
  5. Determine conformance or non-conformance to drawing, purchase order. Engineering specs, test procedures, etc. as applicable.
  6. Completion of rejected material reports and inspection tags.
  7. Perform necessary material handling associated with the job.
  8. Operate and calibrate test equipment as required.
  9. Maintain clean, safe work area and equipment according to 5S standards.
  10. Maintain necessary time, quality, quantity and other records.
  11. May be called upon to participate within special work teams performing various team related duties. Including Kaizen events, 5S programs and problem solving exercises.
  12. Follow all safety policies, procedures and JHRA’s.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE :$30.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
