Job summary

Johnson Controls, a global leader in building systems and energy efficiency, is seeking a painting technician. The role involves painting parts, finishing coats, inspecting for defects, and preparing items for shipment.

You will also perform basic material handling, record-keeping, and participate in 5S and Kaizen initiatives. Candidates should be comfortable using hand tools, adhering to safety policies, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.

Responsibilities

• Paint parts or assemblies with coats, finishes, priming and finishing
• Wash, clean, wire brush, prime and finish coat; assemble parts on packages
• Inspect painted items and apply decals and tags; prepare for transport
• Perform necessary material handling related to the job
• Maintain time, quality, quantity and other records
• Use hand tools (chisel, hammer, air grinder, wire brush)
• Assemble caps, plugs and valves for finished charge
• Detect unusual conditions or defective material and report to supervision
• Keep work area clean and safe per 5S standards
• May join special teams (Kaizen, 5S, problem solving)
• Follow all safety policies and JHRA’s procedures

• 1. Perform a variety of painting of parts or assemblies such as, but not limited to compressors, packages, assemblies, parts or any other items that require their surfaces to be coated.
• 2. Wash, clean and wire brush or scrape parts as necessary, prime and finish coat using ready mix or activator type paints. Included will be to assemble individual parts or items on packages as required. Prime and finish coat using ready mix or activator type paints.
• 3. Inspect all packages or items that are painted and correct any deficiencies that are identified. Apply specified decals and tags. Shrink wrap packages or any other items for transport or storage.
• 4. Perform necessary material handling associated with the job.
• 5. Maintain necessary time, quality, quantity and other records.
• 6. Use chisel, hammer, air grinder, wire brush and other appropriate tooling.
• 7. Assemble caps, plugs and valves for finished charge.
• 8. Detect unusual conditions or defective material and report to proper supervision.
• 9. Maintain clean, safe work area and equipment according to 5S standards.
• 10. May be called upon to participate within special work teams performing various team related duties. Including Kaizen events, 5S programs and problem solving exercises.
• 11. Follow all safety policies, procedures and JHRA’s.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $29.08 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
