Job summary

The Painter role at Georgia World Congress Center Authority entails maintaining and refinishing interior and exterior surfaces across the campus. You will apply paints and coatings, ensure high standards of workmanship, and coordinate with campus operations to minimize disruption during events.

Requires a minimum of five years painting experience in a commercial setting and at least two years in supervision.

  • Strong integrity, thoroughness, and attention to detail are required.

  • Maintain wall finishes to a high standard and ensure quality workmanship.
  • Direct activities of subordinate staff in the painting section and manage supplies.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute all painting and wall finishing tasks.
  • Operate and maintain painting equipment and ensure safety compliance.

Painter Position Summary

The Painter performs skilled surface preparation and painting work to maintain the appearance and integrity of campus facilities. This role is responsible for applying paints, coatings, and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces while ensuring quality workmanship, safety compliance, and minimal disruption to operations and events. The Painter collaborates with campus operations and project management to support a clean, professional, and well-maintained environment.

PAINTER PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is moderately exposed to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The ability to lift 50 pounds or more may be required of this position. Daily shifts will endure various degrees of walking, standing, turning, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling, requiring a full range of body movements. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.

Painter Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of all wall finishes at the highest standards possible
  • Utilization of computerized work order system
  • Direct activities of subordinate staff as assigned in paint section
  • Manage and maintain painting equipment and supplies
  • Monitor and secure the safekeeping of painting equipment and supplies
  • Maintain paint shop and work in adherence to all safety and health regulations
  • Notify appropriate personnel of equipment and facilities requiring repair or replacement
  • Critique subordinates regarding professional standards of techniques and performance
  • Planning, scheduling, and execution of all aspects of work related to painting, wall finishes, and other work as directed
  • Position requires an irregular work schedule, and the performance of work assignments that may not be directly related to job specifications
  • Maintain a professional image that represents the philosophy of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority with emphasis on providing to exhibitors and clients with the highest level of customer service deemed possible
  • Perform such other duties, functions, special projects, and responsibilities as assigned

  • Ability to work an irregular work schedule as required to perform duties and responsibilities
Painter Education And/Or Experience
  • High School or GED required.
  • Associate degree from a two (2) year college or technical school preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience as a painter for a commercial painting contractor or compara le position, and a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience.
