Western Carolina University is seeking a skilled Painter to prepare, finish, and refinish building surfaces on the Cullowhee campus. The role requires hands-on painting experience and adherence to standard trade procedures.
You will work with wood, plaster, drywall and other materials, using brushes, rollers, and spray techniques as appropriate. This is a permanent, full-time position on-site with a 40-hour work week, a 12-month probationary period, and opportunities to contribute to campus

The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The primary purpose of this position is to prepare, repair, finish and/or refinish building equipment surfaces (wood, plaster, drywall, wall covering, steel, concrete, brick, etc.) by recognized procedure and techniques of the painting trade.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Knowledge of standard procedures and practices of painting at the journeyman level. Examples are, but not confined to: Surface preparation techniques and cleaning materials use; Painting and staining (brush, roller, spray) application techniques for all types of materials familiar to the painting trade; Wall covering lay out and application techniques; Skill in mixing paints and in matching or blending colors; Knowledge of the use and care of tools and equipment used in the painting trade; Ability to maintain effective working relations with other employees.
