Job summary

Foley Equipment is seeking a Painter to apply automotive-grade finishes to components, engines, and parts. The role involves surface preparation, painting, and operating coating equipment at Foley locations in Kansas and nearby areas.

The ideal candidate will have basic to intermediate math skills, the ability to read technical documentation, and a commitment to safety with proper PPE. Travel for training or to support other sites is required.

Qualifications

• Proficient in basic to advanced math for measurement and estimation.
• Able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, and bulletins.
• Able to wear and properly use PPE, including respirator and paint suit.
• Able to solve practical problems and propose innovative solutions.
• Must be able to read and interpret varied instructions.

Responsibilities

• Paint surfaces and components using automotive-grade finishes.
• Prepare surfaces: scrape, sand, prime or seal before painting and operate painting equipment.
• Maintain and clean painting machines and measure coating thickness.
• Test paints and coatings to ensure specifications are met and operate ancillary equipment.
• Travel for training or to assist at other locations.

Job description

Our Painter is primarily responsible for applying proper painting techniques to components, engines, transmissions, cylinders and all types of vehicular equipment.

What You Will Do In This Role

• Maintain work area, tools and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment while painting surfaces and using appropriate methods to include automotive grade finishes
• Scrape, sandpaper, prime or seal surfaces prior to painting, set-up and operate machines to paint or coat products.
• Clean and maintain coating and painting machines and measure thickness and quality of coating, using micrometer
• Examine and test solutions, paints, products, and work pieces to ensure specifications are met while Operating auxiliary machines or equipment used in the coating or painting process.
• Weigh or measure chemicals, coatings or paints and adds to machine
• Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Ability to perform basic and more complicated mathematic fundamentals – add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Able to compute rates, ratios and percentages to draw and interpret bar graphs
• Ability to wear proper PPE, including respirator and paint suit
• Ability to solve practical problems and offer innovative solutions to unique problems as well as interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
• Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications

What Will Put You Ahead

• Familiarity operating forklift, overhead crane and rigging, painting equipment including paint gun, basic hand tools, sanders and pneumatic tools
• Stable work history
• Minimum one-year of experience as a skilled painter
