Job Summary: Preserve, protect and enhance the appearance of campus through painting buildings, equipment, and other interior/exterior surfaces.
Responsibilities
- Perform general and custom painting assignments employing all standard trade practices and skills
- Varnish, stain, seal, and finish/refinish desks, doors, decks, cabinets, and floors
- Trim windows and doors
- Caulk cracks in walls and glaze windows
- Mix paint, varnish, lacquers, and enamels
- Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted using sandpaper, scraping, soap and water, tape, drop cloths
- Estimate and gather types and amount of materials needed for job
- Perform plastering or drywall repair
- Repair wallpaper
- Paint logos and graphics on floors and walls
- Set up and break down scaffold and ladders
- Submit daily report showing time spent on each project and quantity of materials/supplies used
- Follow all safety and other risk management policies in performance of work
- Attend safety meetings
- Maintain, repair, and clean tools, equipment, and work areas
- Keep assigned service vehicle clean and organized
Required Qualifications
- Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Required Experience: One (1) or more years of related work experience
Proposed Salary: $17.13 - $20.96 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

- Consistently exhibit engaging customer service
- Ability to support various constituencies served by the University
- Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
- Ability to identify and differentiate between colors
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and work order instructions
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to read and comprehend specifications and standards
- Ability to operate University service vehicle
- Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
- Knowledge of various painting techniques and finishes
- Familiar with painting tools and brushes
- Knowledge of trade standards and techniques used within the painting profession
- Basic knowledge of "Right to Know Laws" and chemical safety standards
- Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
- Attentive to detail
