Albany Engineered Composites designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite components for aerospace applications. This role focuses on painting and finishing aircraft parts, preparing sections for coating, and performing touch-ups as required.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and the ability to read blueprints, perform shop math, and operate trimming and painting tools. Day shifts, with a strong emphasis on quality and safety, are available.

Responsibilities

  • Mixes adhesives, paint or resin systems and applies them to parts.
  • Repairs surface blemishes under written instructions.
  • Uses power tools and paint equipment for finishing aircraft parts.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness in the assembly/finishing area.

Job description

Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite components in order to help our customers push the frontiers of innovation. Our core strength is our ability to produce highly tailored, complex composite components. With our unique blend of products – including 3D woven structures, traditional and non-traditional 2D composite structures, and discrete through thickness reinforcement technologies, to name a few – AEC is able to produce composite components and products which meet performance and cost specifications often beyond the reach of metallic or conventional laminated composites.

Paints aircraft interior, exterior and piece parts. Prepares for painting by masking, stripping, washing aircraft sections and components. Blends and mixes paints, inks, and coatings to proper spraying consistency. Performs detail and touch-ups. Sets-up and coordinates processes for painting production parts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Little or no knowledge of the job. Moderate understanding of general job aspects and some understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.
  • Close supervision involving detailed instructions and constant checking on work performance.
  • Contacts are primarily within immediate work unit. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information requiring little explanation or interpretation.
  • Prepares and assembles commercial and military aircraft products. Mixes adhesives, paint or resin systems, applies them to piece parts, assembles and secures as required for curing. Repairs surface blemishes, IAW written instructions. Use of power tools, sanders, drills, paint guns, routers, sand blasters and other applicable tools to the manufacturing of paint and assemble aircraft parts. Maintain order and cleanliness in assembly/finishing area

  • Ability to follow directions from supervisor, verbal and written tool orders and engineering orders.
  • Ability to use trimming equipment, cutters, grinders and drills to trim parts within drawing requirements or shop order tolerances.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Manual dexterity is required.
